Jean-Luc Azzis 

Since a young age, Jean-Luc has been fascinated by the art of creating visual effects to help tell stories. He moved from his hometown in France to London in 1994 for a compositing job at The Mil, al VFX production company, working on commercials. He then followed his dream of working on science fiction movies when he got a job in Los Angeles on “Contact” directed by Robert Zemeckis. After seven years in LA, he moved to Wellington to work on “King Kong” by Peter Jackson and made NZ his home.

In addition to compositing and compositing supervision, Jean-Luc has done on set supervision and matte painting for “Avatar,” “Planet of the Apes,” “The Hobbit” among many others. He worked at Weta for ten years before moving to the Nelson region in 2014. 

For the past decade, Jean-Luc has been providing compositing and Houdini FX as an independent contractor on video game cinematics, movies and TV series. After 30 years in the business, he still loves what he does.
