Betsy Bauer is an award-winning editor, colourist, and producer, currently working as the Senior Media Producer and Post Production Manager at the legendary Wētā Workshop. With a career spanning over 15 years in the New Zealand film and television industry, Betsy has worked on a diverse range of projects – from award-winning television series (Wellington Paranormal, Kid Sister, Little Apocalypse), to feature films (Shut Eye, Deathgasm, Avatar: The Way of Water) and short films (Cleaver, Smog, Kōkako).
She has a passion for storytelling that blends technical precision with creative flair, and loves nothing more than crafting narratives that resonate emotionally with audiences. Betsy’s collaborative approach has seen her lead post-production teams, mentor emerging editors, and navigate the complexities of hundreds of projects across a wide spectrum of styles and formats.
Betsy has served as a jury member for national and international film festivals, including Show Me Shorts and the Sapporo International Short Film Festival, and this year will be a jury member for the New Zealand Screen Awards and the 48Hours Film Competition. She’s passionate about uplifting local talent and celebrating bold, original storytelling in all its forms.
