Mary C. Schaffer is a producer/executive producer in the United States of America. Ms. Schaffer was Director of Production at Disney Interactive, Supervising Producer at Viacom New Media, Director of Production at GeoCities, as well as Homestore.com. She produced children’s video games including Elmo’s Letters and Elmo’s Numbers (Sesame Street).
She is Emeritus Associate Professor of Film and Digital Media at California State University, Northridge, California where she taught for 15 years. Prior to entering the entertainment industry, she was a journalist for 20 years at National Public Radio, Post-Newsweek, WCCO-TV (Minneapolis), and Minnesota Public Radio.
She is a member of the Producers Guild of America and the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and Film Independent. She was Vice President of the International Documentary Association (IDA), serving on its Board for six years. She is a Past President of Broadcast Education Association, an international organization for academics and industry professionals.
Ms. Schaffer has judged over 30 film festivals, including the Gold Jury for the IDA. In 2019, she taught filmmaking to young adults in Nepal through International Youth Media Summit.
Currently she is developing a documentary on the 26th Amendment to the United States Constitution, and a documentary on one-room schoolhouses. When not producing, she runs marathons and does Cross-Fit.
