Steve McGillen 

Steve is a Visual Effects and Compositing Supervisor with over 25 years of film and television experience.

From rural South and Mid Canterbury, an early cinema experience watching Return of the Jedi sparked his passion for the visual effects industry. Graduating from the New Zealand Broadcasting school in Christchurch, Steve went on to major film hubs around the world including Sydney, London and San Francisco collaborating with inspirational artists in companies such as WetaFX, The Moving Picture Company and Industrial Light and Magic.

Credited in over 45 film projects, such as vfx spectacles King Kong, Guardians of the Galaxy, The Avengers, Transformers, Avatar and The Hobbit, his artistic contributions have been recognised with multiple Visual Effects Society and Hollywood Post Alliance award nominations. Forming both a career and a hobby, Steve has also directed and edited several short films for the Show Me Shorts festival and co-founded experimental project hub Backlot, responsible for the VFX on local indie hit Wellington Paranormal. His energy to create and collaborate continues to motivate his journey in his role as VFX Supervisor at Park Road Post in Wellington.
